The first in our series looking at the last decade of the Children and Families Act 2014. We ask those at the centre of its inception what went wrong and what they think went right. First, SNJ's Tania Tirraoro and Sharon Smith speak to Stephen Kingdom, who was the Deputy Director of SEND at The Department for Education at the time of the CFA's inception. Stephen is now Campaigns Manager for the Disabled Children's Partnership. He says the government wanted to be hands off in implementation, and they had to fight to get some oversight. Stephen moved on after implementation day in 2014 but says looking back, he'd have tried to push even harder to control the Act's roll out.
