✈️ Join me as we launch skyward on this beast of an airplane — traversing between freezing cold Chicago and warm, sunny Los Angeles aboard this United Airlines Boeing 777-222(ER) [type 77O] This massive bird is the second most densely configured 777 in United's fleet with 362 total seats, and when I saw it had well over 100 open seats (PLUS this whole row I was in), I made it a point to get on this flight. If I had my 1st choice of seat, it would have been in row 19, but those are certainly some of the first to be taken, so row 40 is the next best. Row 40 is sold as economy plus on this configuration (the 77O) versus the 77M or 77G layouts. So, you get the best of both worlds — extra legroom AND an amazing wing view! We begin at ORD's gate C20W (W for widebody), push back and head for runway 28L shortened at N, where we quietly blast off into the frigid skies above. Climbing directly to MYKIE, we initially climb to a cruising altitude of 30,000 feet, then climb to 38,000 about halfway through the flight. Our flight route today takes us over the states of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California before gradually descending and landing on LAX's runway 24R short 4 and a half hours later.
