DOUBLE TOE DROPS Clogging tutorial • Appalachian dance for Beginners

Clog along with me as I teach the Appalachian clogging step called Double Toe Drops. This step is typically taught in the early weeks of a beginner course. I often cue "Toe Drop" or "Toe Drops" when cuing this step.

Double Toe Drops:
shuffle step, toe, rock step, toe, rock step

A "toe" is when you strike the floor with the tip of your toe/toe nails. It is non-weight bearing.

A "rock" is when you transfer weight onto the ball of your foot, making a percussive sound.

A good drill at home for getting more comfortable with the weight changes in Double Toe Drops is to just repeat: toe rock step, toe rock step, toe rock step, toe rock step, etc. on your right foot and then switch and drill your left. You can optionally hold on to a wall or counter or chair.
