English Introduction
"Gong Zai Bing" (literally “Doll Cake”), also known as “Doll Mooncake” or “Doll Biscuit,” is a traditional Mid-Autumn Festival pastry from Guangdong, China. It originates from Cantonese mooncake culture and is usually shaped into small figures, animals, or auspicious patterns, which is why it is called “Doll Cake.” The making process is similar to mooncakes, but doll cakes are smaller in size. The filling often includes lotus seed paste, red bean paste, or assorted nuts, while some are plain without filling, known as “naked doll cakes.” Beyond being festive food, they are also popular as holiday gifts, symbolizing good luck and happiness.
