The Attack: The brothers, then aged 22 and 17, allegedly put Xanax in their parents' drinks to make them sleepy. After the parents had gone to bed, the brothers cut a natural gas line and lit a candle in an unsuccessful attempt to cause an explosion and burn the house down.
The Assault: When the explosion attempt failed, they proceeded to physically attack their parents. They attempted to smother them, beat their mother with a rifle, and stabbed their father multiple times.
The 911 Call: Yvonne Ervin was able to make a frantic 911 call while her husband distracted the sons, a move police described as life-saving.
Arrest and Charges: Police arrived to find a bloody scene. Zachary Ervin emerged from the garage, covered in blood and injuries. The brothers were arrested at the home without incident and charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault and first-degree arson. #crimestory #truestory #truecrimecommunity #crimenews #crime
