In this video, we teambuild around Gouging Fire for the upcoming return of Regulation F for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet VGC. Gouging Fire's typing makes it so that Urshifu's Surging Strikes & Flutter Mane's fairy attacks are only neutral and not super effective. With a very solid bulk, Gouging Fire is able to stay on the field against these common meta threats and either reduce their damage with Breaking Swipe or KO them with Heat Crash. It's biggest strength is to enable itself and its allies with Howl. Pairing it with Ogerpon Wellspring gives you a fire-water-grass core with just 2 Pokemon. Dragonite & Chien-Pao are good allies since they benefit from Howl and Sword of Ruin. Kingambit can deter Intimidate against the physical cores. Other successful ideas include adding a Porygon-2 for the Trick Room / Tailwind matchup, as well as Dondozo & Ting-Lu for Yawn & Sand Tomb spam.
