Masters Historic Racing F1 class at the Monterey Historics. My father let me race his Lotus 49 for my first time, and it was a difficult car to learn to drive with so much power and so little grip! I got more and more comfortable and then spun at the end of the event, thankfully not too serious.
Chassis R2 was Jim Clark's car in 1967, and he won 3 Grand Prix (Zandvoort, Watkins Glen, Silverstone) and 4 Tasman series races in it. Jo Siffert, Graham Hill, and Jackie Oliver all drove the car in 1968. Pete Lovely bought R2 (thinking it was R11, a Graham Hill car) and raced it for a long time before Bob Baker acquired the car. My father acquired R2 in 2009 and had it restored (by Classic Team Lotus) to 49A spec, how it raced at Watkins Glen 1967.
