This webinar was produced in collaboration with the ISN Education team.
Between 30 and 80% of patients start dialysis as an emergency, most often with a temporary haemodialysis catheter. This results in excess cost and morbidity along with the inability of patients to access the dialysis modality of their choice. Urgent start peritoneal dialysis has been shown to be safe and effective. This webinar will assess the evidence in favour of this approach, access options and treatment prescriptions.
The webinar is moderated by ISPD President Prof. Edwina Brown (UK) and has as speakers Dr Brett Cullis (South Africa) and renal nurse Elaine Bowes (UK).
Learning Objectives:
Options for urgent start dialysis
Peritoneal access for urgent start patients
