The mac mini has always been Apple's entry level into the mac ecosystem. Fro $500 you were able to get mac os and take advantage of all of the features for half of the price of the entry level Macbook air. As time has gone by the mac mini line up feels a bit neglected. With a 12 year old enclosure and the M1 silicon chip from 18 months ago it is drastically in need of a upgrade. & that is what we expect to see at Apple's March 8th event. Be it M1X or M2 or even M1 Pro or M1 max.
