P4A 2025: Center for Coastal Studies - Marine Debris and Plastics Program

It's that time of year again! Happy 2025 Project for Awesome. We are the Center for Coastal Studies and we would love your support during the P4A.

We are a small but mighty marine conservation non-profit based in Southeastern Massachusetts. Our Marine Debris and Plastics program aims to remove plastic from our ocean and shores. We take a unique approach to that mission.

-First, we pick up trash, tons of it (literally) per year both on foot and by boat. Removing everything from tiny pieces of foam to thousands of pounds of discarded fishing gear.
-Next, we count and sort, everything. These numbers are important. We use them to publish scientific papers, lobby governments and spread awareness about the type of litter polluting the environment.
-Finally, we partner with artists who create pieces with our trash to educate the public about what harmful plastics in natural environments can do. Decreasing world suck one Dr. Pepper bottle at a time.
