Placekeeping practices extend beyond the preservation of physical spaces. They centre instead on unbroken ties to territory that stretch out through living cultural transmission, Indigenous presence, and community relationships to land.
On 13 November, Indigenous artists and practitioners Brooke Rice, Autumn Godwin, Marnie Jacobs, and Amanda Lickers gathered to engage with placekeeping. Rooted in acts of reciprocity and land-based knowledge teachings, their work resists erasure by honouring natural cycles and fostering continuity between past, present, and future. Through hide tanning, community gardening, food and seed sovereignty, they affirm that place is not only where we are, but how we remember, relate, and care.
This event is organized in conjunction with the exhibition Everlasting.
