January 31, 2019 - An extended period of intense lake effect snow dumped 3-4 feet of snow over the Tug Hill region of NY state, east of Lake Ontario. The areas along the I-81 received 2-3 feet by the afternoon of Jan 31. The snows caused frequent white-out conditions, stranding vehicles, and forcing a brief shut down of the Interstate. This brought dozens of tractor trailers through the small streets of Adams, where they also got stuck.
