Wallsteijn

Wallsteijn is a more than 100 ha estate and nature reserve between Schijf and Achtmaal and west of Zundert in the province of North Brabant. Wallsteijn was created after the excavation of the raised bog. Until the middle of the 18th century, peat was transported to the port via fully loaded flat-bottomed boats over the peat canal. Wallsteijn consists of coniferous and deciduous forest with old oak avenues, interspersed with agricultural land surrounded by hedgerows. To the west is the Oude Buisse Heide. To the northeast is the De Moeren estate. To the northwest is nature reserve De Reten.
On the Roosendaalsebaan is country house Wallsteijn, catering establishment Herberg 't Pannehûske and the Annahoeve, a meeting and course resort Wallsteijn. The country house, at Achtmaalseweg 158, was built in neoclassical style, around 1810. In 1910 the mansion was rebuilt and the rooms each got a different style. For example, the hall with staircase was executed in Louis XIV style. The neo-empire style sitting room.
