Object Lessons for Kids: God is with Us Now - Psalm 23:4

God is right here with us!

When I was a kid I was taught that God is real, He exists. But somehow I thought that He is out there somewhere, not here. I'd go to meet Him when I die. But now I know the truth. God is with us, here and now! He's here with you, He's here with me. That truth is what this object lesson is all about. Based on Psalm 23:4.

In the video I said that God did something really cool for me the day after I learned the story of the tribal rite of passage. I was taking a break cruising YouTube randomly. I clicked on a story about Art Garfunkel (from Simon and Garfunkel fame). In high school a friend of his lost most of his sight. Garfunkel stepped in virtually every day for years, helping his friend by filling out forms, taking him to places he needed to be and the like. In essence, Garfunkel became his friend's eyes.

One day the friend needed Garfunkel to take him several blocks to an important destination. But he was turned down. Garfunkel had something pressing to do; the friend would have to walk blocks without assistance.

He made it, after bumping into people and things, nervous, unsure, feeling alone. If you watched my video you can guess how this story ends: Garfunkel was with him the whole time, silently following behind. Because of this act, the friend gained self-confidence to take charge of his life. He met with great success in his future career.

I said God did something cool. The fact that I learned the story in the video, and this very similar one the very next morning, was His way of letting me know He was paying attention to me. I love when the Lord sends little "friendship cards" like this!
