Saying You Love the Prophet is Not Enough

Too many of us say “We love the Prophet ﷺ” and “We follow the truth” — but what happens when those words are tested?

In this powerful reminder Shaykh Ali Elsayed explores a painful moment in our history, when the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Sayyidunā Husayn, was betrayed not by disbelievers, but by people who prayed, fasted, and claimed to love him. They gave their bay‘ah [allegiance], then raised their swords. Some of them even cried while fighting him.

This is a wake-up call. A reminder that empty claims can destroy nations, that loving the Prophet ﷺ is a responsibility. And if our actions don’t reflect our words, we’re not just lying to others... we’re lying to ourselves.

May Allah ﷻ protect us from hypocrisy, guide our hearts, and allow our actions to speak louder than our speech.
