Here is my way of replacing a P.I.C chip on a GHD 5 straightners. its a simple process to do as lonf=g as you got everything to do the job. The first one i ever did was with a soldering iron, although it can be done with just a soldering iron, its much quicker doing it this way, for me anyway.
Just watch out for ripping the pads on the circuit board, apart from that there is no other foreseeable issues.
