Anime Banzai 2019 | W.D. Gaster contest performance

This is a recording from a friend of my W.D. Gaster skit from Anime Banzai 2019.

I cannot tell you how NERVOUS I was with the uncertainty of my face paint holding up, the audio file sounding clear and functional, and just fighting the instinct to run off stage. Turned out it was a great year. Got a Judge's Choice for excellence in prop construction from Ren Fisher. On top of that...TONS of helpful advice on how to improve with technique/stage work and new friends to reach out to for help. Cosplayers are fierce competitors but equally fierce in the desire to help others. Thank you Anime Banzai for another great year!

Audio commentary

Narrator: The former Royal Scientist, W.D. Gaster? His brilliance was irreplaceable! They say he created the CORE that powers the entire Underground with magical energy. One day however, this life was cut short. He fell into his creation – an experiment gone wrong. They say he was scattered across time and space. Well … I needn’t gossip. It’s rude to talk about someone who’s listening.

Gaster:
No use in hiding human … I’ve been watching you. All this time, all this energy absorbed. Only to be shattered across all time… Intangible … Forgotten … Gifted with the ability to see all but unable to exist. My hypothesis was to combine the energy generated by the CORE, the extracted Determination essence of human souls, and a monster soul to create a god. A monster powerful enough to change our fate. But I have my differences with the King… Why live within a timeline that humans won the war against us? Why risk a second genocide after bringing down the barrier that trapped us underground? Your DETERMINATION exceeds all…With your flesh, your bones, your SOUL… I could exist again. With your power to reset time, I could save us all.

Now… Be good Frisk… AND DIE!

The dialogue however WAS written and recorded by me. I used Audacity to combine the sound files together for this performance skit. Battle SFX were pulled from various Undertale gameplays on YouTube.
