Indian equities edged higher in the afternoon trade amid buying in IT, realty and bank stocks. Market sentiment is also expected to be shaped by the weekly expiry of Sensex derivative contracts today.
Around 1 PM, BSE Sensex was at 84,712.99, up 153.34 points or 0.18 per cent and NSE Nifty50 quoted 25,880.4, up 61.85 points or 0.24 per cent. SunPharma, M&M, Power Grid, NTPC, and BEL were the top losers. On the flipside, TCS, Infosys, ICICI Bank, and Tech Mahindra were top gainers.
