We decided to switch things up a bit and get "Ol 'Decay" into the shop. Last spring we bobbed 13 1/2" of the back of the bed, with full intensions of shortening the pickup to a short box wheelbase, but we got in a hurry and finally I'm getting to it.
I'm going to start by pulling the box off to get it out of the way, so I can get to the frame. after I got the frame, all cleaned up I pulled all the wires out of the back section of the frame rails just to get them safely out of the way, don't want them to get hacked un half. I use a "Z-cut"
style section cut to shorten the wheelbase by 14". Things that will be altered are the (Frame, Box, Brake line, Driveshaft and possibly your Exhaust). there is something that I totally neglected to mention, the "front bed mounts", these holes will not be accessible if you box the frame. You can make an access hole in the plate or do like I'm doing and just not use those front holes, or weld in some nuts to run 2 bolts in from the top. #chevy #framesection #squarebodychevy #squarebody #offroad #shortbox #shortbox conversion
