The Trophy Club Fire Department has a serious message with a touch of clowning around for you this holiday season.
The TCFD is asking you not to clown around in the kitchen this holiday season. Unattended cooking is the number one cause of residential fires in the United States, and we've got some simple steps to keep your kitchen safe and sound.
1. Watch what you heat: The kitchen is no place for clowning! Stay focused when you're frying, boiling, grilling, or broiling. If you've got something baking or roasting in the oven, set a timer to check on it frequently. No burnt offerings this holiday season!
2. Keep your cooking area clean: Clowning around with clutter is a recipe for disaster. Remove oven mitts, towels, and food packaging from the stovetop. A clean kitchen is a happy kitchen—no clowning required!
3. Be prepared: Always be ready to put out those unexpected flames. Keep a lid nearby when you're cooking. If a little grease fire decides to show up uninvited, just slide the lid on top of the pan and turn off the burner. No need for fireworks in the kitchen!
Let's make this holiday season a safe and happy one! Clowning is for the circus, not the kitchen. Stay safe, Trophy Club!
