Glastonbury's Mystical Secrets: Exploring the Tor, Avalon & Sacred Shops

This week, I’m on a magical journey to one of the most spiritual and legendary places in the UK — Glastonbury Town. Not the music festival, but the ancient town of Glastonbury, Somerset — a place steeped in mythology, mysticism, and spiritual energy.

Join me as I explore the hidden corners and iconic landmarks of this new age haven, often called the heart chakra of Britain.

🔮 First, we visit the ancient, sacred oaks known as Gog and Magog, believed to be over a thousand years old. These legendary trees are said to be the remnants of a Druidic ceremonial avenue, and they still carry deep spiritual significance despite their weary appearance.

🏞️ Then it’s off to climb the iconic Glastonbury Tor, one of the most famous spiritual landmarks in England. At the summit, we find St Michael’s Tower, overlooking the mystical Somerset Levels. The Tor is often associated with Avalon, the Holy Grail, and King Arthur himself — believed by many to have once rested here during his final journey.

💧 Next, we pass the sacred waters of the Chalice Well, a site rich with spiritual symbolism and healing energy. Many believe this to be the final resting place of the Holy Grail, making it a powerful pilgrimage site for seekers from all over the world.

🏰 We then head into Glastonbury town centre, where the high street is full of esoteric shops, tantric shops, crystal stores, witchcraft boutiques, herbal apothecaries, and new age bookshops. From Fairy Whispering courses to healing potions, Glastonbury’s unique vibe is unlike anywhere else.

⛪ We even stumble upon a labyrinth in the grounds of a church — more spiritual symbolism to reflect on as we close out the day in this enchanting and otherworldly town.

Glastonbury is full of New Age shops and historic sites like Glastonbury Tor linked with the legends of Avalon, Glastonbury Abbey - the supposed burial site of King Arthur and the Chalice Well with its links to the Holy Grail.
