Get ready for an E Production thriller at the Neohio & Mahoning Valley SCCA Monster Mash! We're at Nelson Ledges Road Course for the Saturday race in the 1986 Mazda RX-7.
This was Bill's first time racing the RX-7 on slicks, and on a cold day, the start was a little nerve-wracking! He fell from the P7 grid spot all the way back to 11th after getting through Turn 1.
The race turned into an all-out sprint to recover! As the tires came in, he found the pace and spent the rest of the race passing cars. He worked his way through the field, passing FIVE competitors in total: a Mazda Miata, another RX-7, two Honda CRX cars, and a VW Golf!
A fast pace and a clean drive brought the Atomic Autosports RX-7 up to a final finishing position of 5th overall and 2nd in the E Production class!
