Mellotron, Birotron, Memotron, Mellotron Micro and...

If at the end of the 60s, Mike Pinder was the best promoter of the Mellotron, in the mid-70s Rick Wakeman (He’s said to have burned his Mellotron after it proved unreliable on tour) financed the Birotron project, based not on cassette tapes but on eight-track cartridges.
In the 21st. Century, Wakeman uses the Memotron when playing live. For the recording of the 2009 live album “The Six Wives of Henry VIII Live”, at Hampton Court Palace, he used two Memotrons.
Tangerine Dream used two Memotrons when in live 2023 and Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater keboard palyer) used a Memotron on the band's Chaos In Motion Tour in 2007 and 2008, and can be heard playing it on the live album “Chaos in Motion” 2007–2008.
