This is not a tutorial, it's just an attempt to record my process of creating an origami mask. This video documents several hours of work over multiple days edited and accelerated to less than half an hour.
The first portion of the video is folding. Not all of the folding is represented; I recorded about four hours of folding but there was some work done off-camera.
At the 16:08 mark I spray water on the model and continue to shape it as it dries.
At 19:12 when the model is completely dry I apply shellac diluted with alcohol to strengthen the model and make the paper resistant to moisture.
At 20:44 I combine crackle paste, fine pumice gel, micaceous iron oxide, buff titanium dioxide and powdered siderite with water for a base coat to apply to the model.
When this has dried and cured, at 23:30 I mix polymer varnish with more micaceous iron oxide, carbon black, raw umber and water to make a sealing coat.
