📖 Revelation 10 – The Little Book: Sweet to Receive, Bitter to Proclaim

In this morning devotion, we step into Revelation 10, a powerful pause between judgment and completion. John is given a little book—open, accessible, and personal. He eats it, and just as the angel declares, it is sweet as honey in his mouth, yet bitter in his belly.
This scene reveals a profound truth about God’s Word. Truth is delightful to receive, comforting to the soul, and rich with promise. But when that same truth must be lived and proclaimed, especially in a resistant world, it carries weight, cost, and sorrow. Revelation 10 reminds us that obedience is not always easy, even when the message comes from God Himself.
The sweetness represents the joy of knowing God’s will, His promises, and His nearness. The bitterness reflects the burden of proclamation—the reality that not all will receive the message gladly, and that speaking truth often invites rejection, misunderstanding, or suffering. Yet God still commands: “Thou must prophesy again.”
This chapter speaks directly to believers today. We are not called only to enjoy Scripture privately, but to carry it faithfully into the world. Discipleship involves both delight and discipline, comfort and courage. The Word that saves us is the same Word that sends us.
