Vintage Floral Sampler Stencils 2

The Vintage Rose and Daisy Sampler Stencils were inspired by a free hand embroidery piece I created. As I was sharing it on social media I had a flood of fellow creatives asking for me to share similar patterns with them. As I studied the free hand piece I discovered there were several floral elements that I could shape into a sampler. I really wanted the stencils to be mixed media friendly so that each creative had options for bringing their sampler to life.

I envision using these stencils as both "paint embroidered” samplers as well as templates for stitching. When using a paper substrate, I will add acrylic or watercolor paint throughout the stencil in a variety of colors, easily fashioning a pretty painted piece. I can then layer a tactile element by adding stitches over selected painted elements creating a true mixed media piece. When stitching, I will “stamp” through the stencil image onto fabric in a neutral color using acrylic paint and an artist sponge. Once dry I will embroider over the painted elements.
