Islam didn’t remove every practice from Arabian culture
Islam removed bad practices and set limits for other practices
There are usually more women than men, one reason is war and nowadays occupational hazards
Many women lost their husbands and wouldn’t have had a husband (provider) without polygyny
When a man has more than one wife, a family and lineage can still be established
In some societies men would have many mistresses and these mistresses wouldn’t be treated with much respect
The responsibilities of a husband aren’t limited to money, he must take care of his wife in each area of wellness/health
There was a custom to marry young virgins but Islam encouraged the marrying of divorced women and widows
