Short Story :
While experimenting with the DADGAD Tuning, this riff/melody/rhythm naturally came up to me. It is so simple and somehow it always keep looping in my head and calming my mind. So I decided to record this before I actually forgot about it.
The overtone in DADGAD tuning makes a simple chord voicing (which in this video consists only D, A and G) suddenly feel more beautiful than ever.
I think I accidentally made a potential backing track for myself with this one.
Long Story :
Back in around 2007 or so, I found out about alternative guitar tuning called DADGAD. But at the time I didn't really appreciate this Tuning because 99% of the Songs I play (even until now) are in either E Standard Tuning or Half step down and that's about it. So in short I just ignored this tuning because at that time I only have 1 Guitar and due to Laziness, I don't want to be bothered by changing to DADGAD tuning each time I want to play the song.
A few months ago a Schecter Signature Guitar caught my attention. It was John Browne Signature model. I didn't now about him back then, so I began to search about him, something in his playing caught my attention because not only his right hand riffing technique is flawless, but his left hand fingering position seemed a little bit weird for me. With another research and looking for his Interviews in several Videos on youtube, I found out he was using DADGAD but lower it at half step, but still the basic premise is the DADGAD.
Hmmm Interesting...
Fast forward a few days ago, I found a great video about DADGAD by Paul Davids that inspires me to actually give another try to this Tuning.
So that all leads me back to experimenting to the DADGAD again after I ignored it last time 15 years ago.
