Mismatched pairs are a staple of television, and while the Simons were brothers their personalities were opposites. That added conflict and humor to the basic plots about their detective agency. Audiences loved it: it ran for eight seasons (1981-1989) on CBS. Over that time the show had two themes: the first ('Best of Friends') was by Barry de Vorzon and Linda Creed; it was heard during season one as an instrumental (opening titles) and a vocal (end credits) sung by the Thrasher Brothers. The more familiar theme, by de Vorzon and Michael Towers, took over in season two.
