Mercedes W123 Dome Light Fix with an easy wiring modification

In this video I will show why my interior dome light on my 1983 Mercedes 300D failed (and why most lights of this design fail) and how to fix it. However, the fix I did was mechanically sound, unfortunately there was still corrosion issues with the circuit board, and mechanical conductors. Rather than tackling that, I decided to just design a new switch mechanism (super simple and cheap) with parts I had on hand and call it good.

In the final wiring diagram part of the video, you may see that have a 3 wire splicing connector dangling to the left; try to ignore that, because it isn't used in the final design. I just had a bare end wire that I needed to connect to one with a crimp on connector and because I hadn't finished building that wire with the proper end I just used a splice to another wire with the connection I needed temporarily for testing.

(I used this method to connect everything because it is super fast; But you could use whatever connector method you prefer, including making a custom plug using the left over bits from the light and 3D printing something).

Power switch 6 pack $8.36 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07... (you may be able to find something a little shorter and a little bit wider that would work for you as well. Main thing is a switch with 3 conductor connection pins, with 3 positions, [Off, 1, and 2.])
