Filthy 50 Gravel Race (2025) Dirty 30

The Dirty 30 Gravel Grinder is a gravel race that takes place in Saranac, MI. The race was held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 and is the 3rd race in the Michigan Gravel Race Series (MGRS). The Filthy 50 is part of the Long Course MGRS which is what I raced.

Race went decent, which I was concerned with after racing Barry Roubaix 65mi last week. Was able to hang with the front group of about 12-15 for the better part of an hour. Got dropped, but with a few others was able to chase back on. Only to get dropped again a few minutes later as a group of 4 got away. For the next hour chased back and finally caught a group of 4 (another 4 still up ahead) just before the last few big climbs with about 9 miles to go. Was able to get over the first climbs but Ivan the Terrible got me and a group of 3 got away. I was completely smoked from chasing so much and me and the guy I chased back on with party paced it to the finish line. The final corner leading into the sprint was a bit odd as a car in the road was slow rolling which messed up my plan. The junior that sat on my wheel for the last couple miles came around me in the final meters taking 8th place. I ended up in 9th overall for a respectable top 10 finish.
