🟡 Just by listening to a single composition of Saint Tyāgarāja, rendered with a balanced blend of rāga, bhāva and a right measure of embellishments can itself become a great experience. When such a rendition is topped-up with a clear pronunciation, to get the true import of the composition, it would be sufficient to take a listener to the realm of peace.
What more need be said, if one could listen to a full-length concert filled with kritis of Tyāgarāja, rendered with all the above parameters in an optimum setting?
🟡 Here is an offering of such a full-length concert, presented to you in two parts. The offering helps you take a peek into the heart of Tyāgarāja. In it, Dr. M Balamuralikrishna (BMK) dynamically paints on a canvas of perfect shruti with the palette of rāga, bhāva & laya, and with the paintbrush of his heart, becoming a conduit for the flow of Tyāgarāja’s music, nourishing body, mind, and soul.
🟡 Sometime ago, I received a couple of cassette tapes, containing an audio recording of two concerts dated 10th Jan 1983 and 10th April 1991, held in New Delhi. When I listened to these recordings, I found that, both were rendered during the annual Tyāgarāja music festival held there. Unfortunately, the tapes did not have the complete concert of either 1983 or 1991. All the renditions that I could restore from these tapes has been sequenced in a concert format and has been presented in a two-part album.
🟡 No additional information about these concerts is available with me. If I could find the details of accompanying artistes, I will update it here.

🟢 All these compositions have been sung by BMK several times and what makes them more interesting is our own ability to observe the nuances that he brings into the same composition, as if they have just blossomed freshly in the garden of music. These nuances are quite different at different points in time and they are seldom repeated. This aspect would enable us to easily understand BMK’s innate creativity of singing different versions of the same composition and each one of them would be so unique and would leave the listener absolutely spellbound. This concert too has many such features and captures a keen listener’s attention best.
Please listen to experience and dwell in the heart of Tyāgarāja through the art of Muraligānam.
