Making my own sewing labels at home! ♻️ Instead of ordering custom tags, I used thrifted fabric and an inkjet printer to create unique labels for my handmade pieces. Super easy, budget-friendly, and adds a personal touch to every design!
I got scrap cotton material from the thrift store, Freezer paper (which is like baking paper but has a coated side that temporarily keep fabric in place) white vinegar, sharp scissors and a hot iron.
Step 1 : I traced around an A4 piece of paper onto my fabric, then cut the freezer paper to the exact same size making sure it was precise.
Step 2: I then ironed the freezer paper to the fabric making sure the coated side was facing down (I said wax because that’s my interpretation of that side, it’s not actually wax). I gave it a good press to secure the corners.
Step 3: I tested my design on paper first, making sure it was all in size. Then inserted the freezer/material sandwich in the printer. Be sure to know what side is going to be facing up (do at your own risk)
Step 4: I Peeled off the freezer paper, Placed it in a dish and poured white vinegar to set the ink. Let soak for 10/15 minutes before giving it a good rinse out
Step 5: DRY.
Step 6: Iron and add a backing. I used fusible interfacing but you can use a lot of things like double sided interfacing.
Thanks for watching.
