その発祥については不明であるが、言い伝えによると地域の祖である関清兵衛、佐藤半助、杉本某、林本市兵衛などが兄川地域に宿場ができたことを記念して、兄川稲荷神社の祭典のときに先祓いと杵取り舞を踊ったのが始まりとされている。神輿渡御の際にその先を祓い清めながら踊ることから先祓いと称している。
昭和 40 年代ころまで兄川地域の大家である関家(屋号：清兵衛)の家屋内で踊られていた。現在は解体されて跡地にて踊られている。
秋田県鹿角市湯瀬及び八幡平地域に伝わる先祓いは、当地域より伝播したといわれていることから、古くから兄川舞とも称する。兄川先祓いは刀を持って踊る勇壮なもので、踊りに関する素朴な風習が残っているのが特徴である。踊りの順序は、デンデコ、ダンジキ、ジャンジャンジャッキ、田の草取り、カッチョ、立ち車、杵取り舞、ヨイサッサである。踊り手は 5～18 歳ころまでの男子で 30～40 人ほどで踊られていた。近年過疎・少子化の影響により踊り手が減少し 15 人ほどで踊られている。 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　

Introdduction of ”Anikawa Sakibarai Dance”
The origin of this dance is unclear, but according to tradition, it began as a commemoration of the establishment of a post station in the Anigawa region.
It is said that the custom of performing purification rituals and pounding dances during the festival at the Anigawa Inari Shrine marked the beginning of this tradition.
The term “sakiharai" comes from the practice of purifying the path ahead during the portable shrine procession while dancing.
Until around the 1940s, it was performed in the homes of influential families in the Anigawa region.
Currently, it has been dismantled and is performed on the site of its former location.
The sakiharai tradition passed down in the Yuse and Hachimantai regions of Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture, is said to have spread from this area, so it is also known as the "Anigawa Mai" from ancient times.
Anigawa Sakiharai is characterized by its bold performance with swords and the preservation of simple customs related to the dance. The sequence of the dance includes Dendeko, Danjiki, Janjanjakki, Tanokusa Tori, Kaccho, Tachiguruma, Kine Torimai, and Yoisassa.
The dancers were usually boys aged 5 to 18, with around 30 to 40 participants. However, in recent years, due to depopulation and declining birth rates, the number of dancers has decreased to around 15.
