Comparing Shweta's and Madhav’s horoscopes, the priests declare them to be well-matched. Upset with this, Vaidehi goes near the lake to pray to Lord Shiva, but starts drowning, only to be saved by Madhav. As the priests were bribed to lie about the horoscopes, Chitra torments them into revealing the truth to everyone.
