I Tried SUPER Ultralight Backpacking!

I tried super ultralight backpacking for the first time! It's been a while since I tried new backpacking gear on a trip, and so for this video I decided to try the lightest gear I have ever tested! With an under 7 pound base weight, and an under 15 pound total pack weight, I set off on an iconic loop in the remote Sawtooth Mountains of central Idaho. I was able to fit all my gear for this 23 mile loop into just a single 25 liter daypack!! But to achieve such a super ultralight pack this meant major sacrifices. I had no tent with me, just a basic ultralight tarp shelter to hopefully protect from rain and storms, and no stove, requiring me to cold soak all my meals. Typically gear this light is reserved for the warmest and best conditions, so when rain and thunder arrived I knew I'd be pushing this gear to the limit. Will trying such an extremely lightweight backpacking kit inspire ways to make my core kit even lighter? Watch the video to see! 😘
