The Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge in the World | TRAVEL Portugal

Join us on our travel adventures around Portugal! We head over to Northern Portugal to walk across the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the WORLD! We also visit some other major highlights in Northern Portugal: Braga and Guimaraes.

We start off in the town of Arouca to walk across the famous 516 Arouca Bridge. Having a length of 516 meters and suspended 175 meters above the Paiva River, the 516 Arouca Bridge is the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. The walk across the bridge is part of the beautiful Passadiços do Paiva (Paiva Walkways) trailhead.

The main highlight in Braga is the stunning Bom Jesus do Monte. The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte is a Portuguese Catholic shrine in Tenões, outside the city of Braga, in northern Portugal. Its name means Good Jesus of the Mount. This sanctuary is a notable example of Christian pilgrimage site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Braga area.

Finally, we visited the lovely town of Guimaraes, with its old town and historic buildings, it is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guimaraes is known for its well-preserved medieval buildings, beautiful churches, and the 10th-century Guimaraes Castle, with its sweeping city views.
