Bending Design of Reinforced Concrete Beams [Episode #1: Reinforced Concrete Series]

Every reinforced concrete beam needs to resist bending moments. To resist these bending moments, longitudinal rebars are added in the top and bottom of the cross-section. If the bending moment is too big and greater than the bending resistance of the beam, vertical cracks develop.

In this video, I’ll show, step-by-step, how you verify reinforced concrete beams for bending moments accroding to Eurocode.

This is episode #1 of the reinforced concrete design series, where we'll cover everything you need to know about reinforced concrete design. We'll explain the basics like shear, bending, compression and torsion design. Then we'll also look at the anchorage length and the strut & tie method. Later, we'll design reinforced concrete elements like beams, frames, columns, slabs and walls.
