Very helpful minimizing dull tone from warping. For uilleann chanter or other dry blown double reeds using French bassoon or other hard cane that resists settling down to an ideal low elevation (opening). Before assembling and binding the reed, scrape away the bark from a narrow strip along the centerline of the blades. But do NOT go all the way to the end. Leave all the bark in place across the lips until the reed has settled and closed as you prefer before beginning the normal scraping and voicing. I'm finding it works with a variety of cane types even when starting elevation is normal.
