The Puff Adder, one of the most aggressive snakes in Africa has an interesting mating ritual. The males go into combat in order to mate with the female. She gives off pheromones alerting the males that she is ready to mate. The males are not affected by the venom of the other snake but at times the long fangs will bite into the brain or a vital organ.
The snakelets are born ready to fight as they receive no parental care and are on their own from the time they step into the world.
