Making neem oil at home involves a relatively simple process. Here's a basic method to prepare neem oil:

Materials Needed:
Neem seeds or neem leaves
Cold-pressed vegetable oil (such as olive oil or coconut oil)
A mortar and pestle or a blender
A clean glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
Strainer or cheesecloth
Procedure:
Collect Neem Seeds or Leaves: Obtain fresh neem seeds or leaves. Neem seeds are typically more potent, but leaves can also be used.

Clean the Neem Seeds or Leaves: If you're using neem seeds, remove the outer husk to get the inner kernel. If using neem leaves, rinse them thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.

Drying (Optional): Drying the seeds or leaves can help remove excess moisture and prevent mold during the oil extraction process. Spread them out on a clean surface and allow them to air dry for a day or two, or until they are completely dry.
Crushing or Grinding: Using a mortar and pestle or a blender, crush the neem seeds or leaves into a coarse powder. This increases the surface area and makes it easier to extract the oil.

Mixing with Carrier Oil: Place the crushed neem seeds or leaves in a clean glass jar. Pour the cold-pressed vegetable oil (such as olive oil or coconut oil) over the crushed neem material. The ratio of neem to oil can vary, but a common ratio is about 1 part neem to 5 parts oil. Ensure that the neem material is completely submerged in the oil.

Infusion: Seal the jar tightly with its lid and place it in a warm, sunny location for about 2-3 weeks. This allows the neem's active compounds to infuse into the oil.

Strain: After the infusion period, strain the oil using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove the neem particles. Squeeze out as much oil as possible from the neem material.

Storage: Transfer the strained neem oil into a clean glass bottle or jar with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight.
Notes:
Neem oil can have a strong odor, so store it in a well-sealed container to prevent the smell from permeating the surroundings.
This homemade neem oil may not have the same potency or consistency as commercially prepared neem oil, but it can still be effective for various purposes, including skincare, haircare, and pest control.
Always perform a patch test before using neem oil on your skin to check for any allergic reactions or sensitivities.
If you prefer a more refined neem oil, you can repeat the infusion process with fresh neem material using the previously infused oil as a base.
