This is just an overview of maintenance performed. You will see a brief video of replacing the spark plug, air filter, fuel filter (screen) clutch and belt. Since the scooter was apart, it allowed for easy access to the valve cover so the valve adjustment was checked.
This maintenance was due to not accelerating, basically no power, and a loud clutch bearing. I first suspected a fuel supply problem but discovered that there isn’t an inline fuel filter, which would have been an easy check. So I checked the easiest thing I could think of and that was the spark plug. Everything was o.k with that, but replaced it anyways. The next thing was to check the fuel pressure, it was weak. I needed to find out if there was some type of a filter screen that was clogged and that happened to be at the bottom of the fuel pump, much like modern vehicles. There was a lot of debris that was on the bottom of the fuel screen, most likely from bad gas. The fuel tank was vacuumed out and the fuel screen was replaced.
After the maintenance, the scooter ran like new again!
