Adventure Thru Inner Space - Reconstructed Ride-Thru (1985 Disneyland)

A reconstruction of GENUINE post-1977 Adventure Thru Inner Space video and audio!

Like many others, I was irritated with the audio quality of the Adventure Thru Inner Space ride video from the Extinct Attractions Club DVD. It’s fantastic footage, apparently recorded by an imagineer during the day of the ride’s closing in 1985, but the ride source audio was overlayed on top of the recording’s audio track incorrectly, blocking what would otherwise be an authentic experience. What I did with this video was take an audio recording of the attraction post-1977 (when Monsanto dropped out as a sponsor) and splice it into recut footage from the Extinct Attractions Club video. The result is hopefully something close to an authentic, complete ridethrough.

The quality of the original video is extremely poor, however I’ve rectified this somewhat by messing with the contrast in the show scenes. If you squint really hard, you can almost make out the giant snowflake props! I’ve also reconstructed the audio in the unload and former postshow area. It’s nothing pretty, but it gives you an idea of what it was like.

Some notes:
As with all omnimover rides, the cars speed up and slow down to accommodate guests, or just as a result of breakdowns. This is my best approximation of a complete, unbothered ride of Inner Space.
There is another audio recording out there where the rider put their microphone right up to the Atomobile’s internal speaker. This recording features the Monsanto post-show mention, whereas this one only makes note of Monsanto when referring to the Mighty Microscope in the beginning. I have reason to believe that after their sponsorship was dropped, this was the only mention of Monsanto in the attraction.
The original uploader of the audio used states that it’s a recording from 1976, but the lack of mentions of Monsanto make me think that it is from 1977.
