The Male Gaze and the Male Gays - Top Gun

On todays episode our hero finally puts that degree she's been paying for to use and discusses queer and feminist film theory and how the "male gaze" of the camera, turns Top Gun into a subtextually queer film. Starting with an introduction into Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema by Laura Mulvey and Ways of Seeing by John Berger, she's able to identify the male gaze and what it does in film. Then, using queer theory, applies this gaze to Top Gun and learns why it has become a cult classic among gay men.
