The Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems were the two factions at odds during the Clone Wars. But have you heard of the Council of Neutral Systems?
As the Pacifist Faction inside the Republic Senate grew, Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore declared her planet neutral in the conflict. She refused to allow her people to be led into another war after being decimated by the Mandalorian Civil War.
Joined by over 1,500 star systems, the Duchess led the outlier group into the formation of the Council of Neutral Systems. These senators voted against efforts to punish systems for treasonous trade or other economic actions, and they abstained from most war-related votes.
Many member systems required commerce with both the Republic and Confederation for the well-being of their worlds and constituents. Although some members covertly developed ways to profit from the war.
Duchess Kryze was their representative when negotiating with the Senate, regularly inviting delegates from outside the Republic and providing them time to address the Galactic Senate.
