The video was captured by Jeroen Van Nieuwenhove during the eruption of the Sundhnúksgígar Volcano in February 2024. The flurry of volcanic activity was associated with the larger Sundhnúkur eruptions of 2023–2024, which destroyed buildings in the town of Grindavík.
