1. What is a Sales Voucher?

A Sales Voucher is used to record the sale of goods or services to a customer. It is one of the most commonly used vouchers in accounting.
In Tally Prime:
Go to: Gateway of Tally Voucher Entry F8: Sales
You record:
Customer Name
Item or service details
Quantity, Rate
GST if applicable
Total Amount
Narration (optional)
GST Concept in Sales Voucher

When you are a GST-registered business, and you sell taxable goods or services, you need to charge GST in your sales voucher.

Key GST Concepts:

GSTIN must be entered for your company and the customer (if registered).

HSN Code SAC Code and GST rate must be assigned to the items/services.

Type of sale:

Intra-State Sale (within same state): CGST + SGST

Inter-State Sale (different states): IGST

In Tally Prime:

Enable GST from F11:Features Statutory & Taxation.

Set GST rates in item master.

Tally will automatically calculate the tax based on the party's state and item rate.
