In this video I discuss my thoughts on reading Mother Naked by Glen James Brown, which is the first book I've read from the Walter Scott Prize Longlist.
Mother Naked is a joyous romp set in 1434 where an aging gleeman arrives at Durham Cathedral to entertain the religious elite with a story about the Fell Wraith, with tantalising consequences. Mother Naked's first person narrative reads more like a one man show that twists and turns until we discover hidden truths that come back to haunt the Durham elite, more so than the wraith itself.
