Day One

two days of playing together? a dream come true for this
girl….there is plenty of time to enjoy the journey…so breathe and
have fun! woot woot!
supplies;
these are purely
suggestions….please use what
you have!
your usual supplies
modpodge
old book pages (underpants)
12 pieces of sturdy cardboard
(3”x4”)
a piece of cardboard for hole
template
white gesso
corner cutter
sandpaper
assorted ephemera (tickets,
playing cards, hand written
notes…etc)
wild honey distress ink
black stazon ink
timber brown stazon ink
2 rubber stamps
texture paste
stencil
crop-a-dile or awl
1. cover your sturdy pages with underpants using modpodge
2. cover your book pages with a thin layer of white gesso on both
sides and stack them on top of each other while they dry (we
are creating more texture by letting the pages stick together
3. take some sandpaper to the edges of the pages if you would
like to get rid of some of the raggedness
4. add some ephemera to each page with modpodge
5. add some fun color to each page with the wild honey distress
ink-smudge the ink
6. add some noise to the cards with the black stazon ink and
rubber stamps….do not over think this!
7. bring in a stencil and texture paste
8. add some texture paste here and there on the pages
9. can you add a bit of another color?
10. grunge the edges of pages with timber brown stazon ink..and a
bit more too….dry….dry
11. create a template for where the holes are going to be in the
pages…1/2” in from side of page…3/4” from the end…
12. punch 2 holes in each page with a crop-a-dile or an awl.

Day Two

okay.....we have our holes punched in our pages...right? let’s have
fun with our one image....collage work....and embellishments!

modpodge
12 ‘completed’ sturdy pages
sharp x-acto cutter
crop-a-dile
corner cutter
sandpaper
timber brown stazon ink for raw edges
2 blunt large eye needles
8’ of book binding twine create
24 copies of whatever image you are using….
butterflies? artist’s choice

1. separate the pages into 2 groups 7 in one group/5 in the
other
2. you are going to be creating windows, half pages, and cut outs
in the group of 5 with a sharp x-acto blade...do not over think
this part!!!
3. you will be leaving the group of 7 whole
4. glue or stitch some the pieces that you removed onto some of
the whole pages....play with this part!!!
5. time to bind your book!
6.    • Traveling Collage part 3 Coptic Binding!  
7. using some fun background papers....create at least 24 copies
of your image (black and white, color, reverse image...)
8. work on one page at a time....cut, mix and match, color, black
and white, use the video for reference and support...
9. add bits of this and that from your work space...
10. this is playful!
11. and ta dah!!!!
