Marcel Tournier (1879-1951) was a French harpist, composer, awarded 2nd Prix de Rome in 1909, and teacher at the Paris Conservartoire from 1912-1948.
Amongst his most famous works for harp are 4 Suites of "Images" (Pictures), each musically illustrating a theme, in this one "Dance of the moujik", which Tournier later arranged in this rare version for harp and string quartet (played here by Quatuor Voce).
All of the suites and a few other chamber music works appear in Emmanuel's Alpha Classics CD "Images - Hommage à Marcel Tournier" recorded in Paris with French Soprano Véronique Gens and the Voce string quartet, released May 2025.
In this video, recorded in Paris Salle Cortot by Maxime de Bollivier, Emmanuel Ceysson plays a Lyon and Healy 2014 Red Salzedo.
